About CleanHavenly

CleanHavenly is a DIY natural cleaning site for readers in the United States. We publish honest, source-verified recipes and guides for cleaning your home with simple, natural ingredients — with exact measurements, real costs, and clear safety warnings.

We started CleanHavenly in 2026 because most natural cleaning advice online is either vague, unsafe, or impossible to verify. A recipe that says “add some vinegar” is not a recipe. A guide that never mentions which surfaces vinegar can damage is not a guide you can trust. So we built the site we wanted to read: every method checked against trusted sources, every measurement exact, every limitation stated plainly.

What CleanHavenly Is

CleanHavenly covers one thing only: DIY natural cleaning. Our guides help you make your own cleaners, look after your laundry, tackle mold and mildew safely, clean your dishwasher and appliances, remove stains and odours, and care for wood, glass, and other surfaces around your home.

Everything here is written for US homes. That means US brands and stores you can actually find (Dr. Bronner’s, Fels-Naptha, Zote, Arm & Hammer, Dawn, Murphy’s Oil Soap; Walmart, Target, Amazon.com, Home Depot, Lowe’s), US appliances (HE washers, top-loaders, garbage disposals), imperial units only, and prices in dollars.

How We Verify

Every recipe and guide on CleanHavenly is built on verified standard formulations and checked against trusted sources — the EPA, the CDC, manufacturer manuals, and university extension services. Each recipe gives you:

  • Exact measurements — cups, tablespoons, and ounces, never “a splash” or “some”
  • Dwell and soak times — how long a cleaner needs to sit before you wipe or rinse
  • Shelf life — how long a homemade cleaner keeps, and how to store it
  • Real cost per batch — worked out from store prices, with the date the prices were checked

If a method has not been tested by us, the article says so. If a claim cannot be sourced, we do not make it. And if we get something wrong, we fix it and show the update date on the article. You can read the full process on our Editorial Standards page.

Who Writes CleanHavenly

Emily Hart is the writer behind CleanHavenly. Emily Hart writes CleanHavenly’s natural cleaning recipes and guides. Every recipe here is built on verified standard formulations and checked against trusted sources (EPA, CDC, manufacturer manuals) — with exact measurements, dwell times, shelf life, and real cost per batch. No invented claims, no fake testing stories.

What We Never Do

  • No invented claims. We never write that a cleaner “kills 99.9% of germs” unless a named source says so. Natural does not mean disinfectant, and we say that plainly.
  • No fake testing stories. Our photos are illustrations or stock images. They are never presented as our own testing.
  • No fake reviews. We do not publish reviews we made up, and we never present a product as tested when it was not.
  • No invented prices. Costs are worked out from real store prices, with the date checked.
  • No safety downplaying. If a mixture is dangerous, we say so in bold, before the recipe starts.

Safety First

Cleaning chemistry can hurt you if it is handled wrongly, and natural ingredients are no exception. Two rules to know before you make anything on this site:

Never mix vinegar and bleach — it creates toxic chlorine gas.

Never use vinegar on granite, marble, or other natural stone, on cast iron, aluminium, or waxed wood.

Every recipe on CleanHavenly carries a Safety First box with the warnings that apply to it, and every article includes a “What NOT to Mix” guide. Please read the Editorial Standards page before you start, and always spot test a new cleaner on a small, hidden area first.

How CleanHavenly Is Funded

CleanHavenly is free to read. We earn money in two ways: display advertising, and affiliate commissions when you buy a product through a link on this site. Affiliate links never change what we recommend, and we never recommend a product we would not use ourselves. Read the full Affiliate Disclosure for details.
